Freda's
diary
19th
September 2009
Well
what a day. Mum woke us up bright and early, too early for me, but at
least I had my breakie, that is always good. I luv my food.
She
told us today was the day we were all going to Brighton, wherever that is,
to the Puppy Farm Awareness Day. She dropped Merlin off at grandma's - he
is just to naughty for such important days - and off we went with me,
Peggy, Buddy, and Ginny and Bella the Westie who are both pup farm dogs
like me. Sarah also came; she is Bella's sister human.
What
a long drive it was but we got there in the end and set up our stall. I
supervised, as it is my tombola. We had lots of pictures about the farms
and all my sisters that have come out from them.
I
met some new friends who were all like me and rehomed by Pro Dogs Direct.
First I met Peg the Shih Tzu, who has a very bad heart, and Phoebe,
a Bischon who also has a bad heart, and of course Bella the Westie who
came down with us, she is just grumpy.
Then a
little later along came another Cocker called Bella

whose
mum apparently fostered last year. She was very shy and quiet, but we had
a chat about mum and grumpy Peggy the cocker. She is a lovely dog Bella.
I'm sure I have met her before. After that I sat and had a chat with Peg
the Shih Tzu; we were discussing who was the most beautiful and whose
stall it was. She had to agree I am as it is my blog.
Mind Bella
Westie said it should be her stall as she has been out the longest and is
older than all of us; she is a funny old thing.
I
did like Sarah, though she helped my mum a lot.
A
little later after my meeting a considerable amount of people who all
wanted a Freda cuddle and mum and auntie Margaret who owns Peg and Phoebe
telling them all about us puppy farm girls and the awful places we come
from a long came a pretty little white dog who said 'hello my name is
Maggie I used to be called Snowflake because I came in January when it was
cold and snowy. I am a puppy farm girl too you know, but I am free and
happy now with my own mum and dad and a doggy brother. '
She
was a nice girl. I invited her to join us in the parade we were going to
do later. She said she would be proud to.
After
lunch another dog came up this was a big dog she was a boxer. I've never
met one of those before. She said her name is Tia and she too is a puppy
farm girl. I just can't believe how many different types of dog live in
these places. Anyway Tia is very happy now she is the boss dog in her
house and I invited her to parade too.
Lots
of people came to our stall and had a go on my tombola lots of people were
lucky and won the prizes. So thank you all that had a go and those who
donated to my friends and me. We did ever so well that day and raised £134,
to go towards my and Peg's vet bill which is apparently huge.
Mum
says we must do a lot more fundraising, as I am a girl with expensive
tastes and needs. Well what do you expect, I am a beautiful girl who has
to look my best at all times.
Anyway,
later we did a parade. There were a few of us in, it mostly Prodogs Direct
girls, but there were a couple of Labrador ladies too who we didn't know.
Lots of people took pictures of us it was a bit peculiar but what can you
do.
After a
very long day we all went home. I slept soundly that night, as I was
exhausted - all that looking pretty is tiring you know.
