Dixie
10 Month Old Female
Border Collie

Dixie has come to us as a failed sheepdog, she is the sweetest little girl despite being a little nervous. Life in the home is so very new to her and understandably a little daunting at times.
She is nervous of other dogs when out and about but is gradually relaxing, after her initial nervousness, once she knows the other dogs she is fine around them. A gentle but confident resident dog may well help Dixie settle in and learn to trust.
She will need to continue the socialisation work that her foster has begun with her, in her new home. She will need new owners who have the time to spend with her to help her adjust.

Dixie’s main love in life are people and children, she loves attention and is happy to interact, it would be easy for her to overbond with owners who “feel sorry for her”, she needs owners who will help her adjust and become independent within the home environment.
She is not yet house trained and will need regular trips and reminding as with any young dog. She is a smart little girl who will get the hang of this is no time.

She absolutely hates getting in the car and has to be lifted in, but is fine once she is in the car. We think she feels a little queasy, as she drools a bit, but it is a quiet traveller and just lays down. Loves her food, but not protective over it. She will chew plastic toys and swallow the
pieces, so she needs non destructible toys like a Kong or solid rubber ball really. She collects toys rather than plays with them at the moment. Dixie is going to be a really lovely little dog if someone is prepared just to work with her a little.

Dixie has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date with flea and worming treatment. She is currently being fostered in Essex SS0.
