Doodle is an 8 month old Labradoodle who came into us as he had been returned to his breeder twice as he appeared to have a problem with his shoulder.
We have had x-rays done and Doodle has FMCP, Fragmented Medial Coronoid Process, in both elbows. This means he has fragments of bone in both his elbow joints which make any movement extremely painful for him.
This poor boy also has hip dysplasia.
We would like to help him have his operation as soon as possible to let him live his life as a puppy should, pain-free and happy!
To do this we desperately need to raise funds to cover the cost of his operations and any further treatment he needs.
Please help if you can; we would be very grateful for any donation you can make.
If you would like to help, however much, please click below and make a (non-anonymous) donation. Please then send an e-mail to Urgent@ProDogsDirect.org.uk stating that you would like your donation to help Doodle, so we know where to allocate your funds:
Thank you!
Update: 8 December 2011
Doodle has today had surgery on his elbow. He has also had his manly bits removed which he is not overly happy about! He is not sure which end hurts the most. I have to say he is a little bit of a baby as well.
Doodle is on restricted mobility at the moment and is due back to the vets on Saturday for his post op checks.
So far all seems to be OK and we are happy he is recovering well from the anaesthetic.
Update: 5 January 2011
Doodles had his first proper swimming lesson today. Although he was a bit unsure
initially all the girls at http://www.greyfriarsrehab.co.uk/ were fantastic with him.
He will be swimming 2-3 times per week and is having physio every day. We hope
that this will strengthen his leg following his op.
Doodle will also be having his injections to help improve the joint.
He did very, very well and seemed to enjoy it (after the initial shock!)
Update: 10 February 2012
Doodle has not progressed as well as we had hoped and is still very lame. He is swimming twice a week and having daily physio.
We now need to arrange a CT scan for him, at considerable cost. Sadly this is a must
so we can see if there is anything else we can do to help him.
Doodle also needs supplements to hopefully help his joints and bones. They are expensive so any help you can give will be most appreciated.
Through all of this, Doodes has remained the most loving and giving dog that we as a family have had the pleasure of fostering. I hope with all my heart we can help him have a pain free life as this poor boy truly deserves it.
More updates soon.
