18 Week Old Male
Cocker Cross Poodle

Fletch came into us as a very young pup who had a terrible issue with his hind legs. He has seen the vet at regular intervals to monitor how he was progressing and to see if we had any surgical options open to improving his quality of life. Fletch recently saw our orthopedic vet for a full set of x rays ( spine, hips and both legs in several different positions) and a very thorough examination of his legs and range of movement.

The x rays were not good and sadly have meant that there is nothing we can do to alter and assist Fletch surgically. Please do not suggest seeing any other vets super or otherwise as we really have consulted with everyone possible qualified to help Fletch. He currently has a great quality of life, he loves to play with the other pups and indoors manages fine running about at a great rate of knots. He cannot go for walks as his back feet would become sore and scuffed and it would place to much stress on his front legs and spine. He does go out in his push chair and is a firm favorite at the bank.

We will be seeing if wheels would be suitable for Fletch to enable him to get around out of the house, this would mean he would be able to go for walks without causing himself any further damage, his suitability for wheels will be subject to assessment by the company making them. We will update when we have an answer from them.

We are looking for a home for Fletch where he will be allowed to be himself without any expectations being placed on him. He loves a cuddle, he loves a play, he is great with other dogs but can be a little bossy if he has a particular toy that he doesn't want to share.
He doesn't feel sorry for himself and he lives life to the full knowing no difference. He is not in pain now, again we have consulted fully with out vets to ensure his comfort is our greatest concern. We cannot state what the future holds and Fletch may at some point become uncomfortable, if and when this happens we need to know that Fletch's comfort will be the priority. We will happily discuss Fletch further with suitable applicants.

Fletch would like new owners who are around for most of the day, another similar sized friendly dog is a must. He is fine with cats, any children should be older teenagers just because he could be really hurt if a young child accidentally tripped or fell on him.
He travels well in the car, sleeps like an angel in his crate and is just one super special pup who deserves the very best home we can find him. He is currently on foster in Aldershot Hampshire. He has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date wth flea and worming treatments.
