Pro Dogs
Pro Dogs Direct
became a registered Charity in 2006, although we had been part of the national charity Pro Dogs for about 10 years. When
Pro Dogs closed it doors we decided to keep Pro Dogs re-homing going.
We
felt there was a need for dogs to be rehomed without going into kennels
that is why we added Direct to our name.
This
is the charity's vision when ever possible to home dogs DIRECTLY from
home to home. Where that is not possible we use foster homes and
occasionally kennels to get dogs to safety and out of difficult
situations.
Our
trustees each take overall responsibility for certain dogs on our
website and become the main contact for all information connected with
that particular dog.
That
enables us wherever possible to reply promptly to enquiries and to get
history and information on each dog, enabling us place the dogs in the
suitable forever home or foster home.
We will help any dogs and take on dogs involved in cruelty cases and the
puppy farms breeding dogs, but not the puppies.
We feel these dogs surely need to know what it is to be loved and happy
as all dogs do. These dogs often need extra medical care and TLC
after a traumatic time having never known a loving hand and
home.
Our
network of volunteers for transporting and fostering the dogs is
invaluable. As are our volunteer homecheckers who meet prospective new
owners in their homes to talk about the dog and its future care and
training.

Direct
It
is our policy to neuter all dogs on rehoming unless there are medical
reasons for not doing so. Puppies are followed up and when old
enough their owners are offered help with neutering.
Of
course as a rescue we do not want unwanted litters but neutering is also
beneficial to the dog for health reasons in later life.
We
re-home any breed of dog and we work with a network of other rescues to
make sure the dogs get into the right homes.
If
you are interested in any dogs on our website, please contact the person
named on the link for more info.
If your details are suitable for the requirements of the dog, we will arrange a homecheck for the dogs security. If this is passed we make arrangements for you to met the dog and hopefully re-home her or him. The time limit on this process varies.
A
minimum donation
of £150 per dog applies. This helps with the neutering,
vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping where necessary.
We
have a legally binding Adoption Contract which you are asked to read and sign and everything known about the dog will be
given to you.
Pro Dogs Direct
is there for help and support throughout the dogs life.
Pro Dogs Direct is run entirely by volunteers who freely give their time to help dogs find new forever loving homes.
Most of our volunteers also fit jobs, families and other commitments into their busy days.
Our aim is to place each dog in the best possible home, and not on a first come first served basis.
