5 Month Old
Male Dachshund

Update
Mega Esophagus - http://dogsaholic.com/care/megaesophagus-in-dogs.html.

Wally continues to do well in foster and is growing well. Please before applying ensure you have fully read and understand his condition and what his needs are. He must be fed 4/5 times per day, he then needs to remain upright for at least 20 minutes after each feed.
He cannot drink from a water bowl and must have access to a "rabbit" feeder bottle. His needs mean that he will only be suitable for someone that does not work and who is around for most of the day.

There is no doubt that Wally is an adorable looking pup, but he does have additional needs and we must ensure that his new owners are able to deal with this and ensure he continues to thrive. He is a lively little lad who knows no difference and accepts life as he knows it. His condition does require dedication from his new owners and should be fully considered before applying.

Aside from their feeding routines these dogs can and do go on to lead normal lives. The greatest risk to a dog with megaeospohigus is aspiration pneumonia, it is one of the main causes of death in dogs with Megaesophagus. Wally will need new owners who have the time and patience to ensure he is fed little and often, care will also need to be taken that he cannot access food items from other dogs or children. Because of the risks for Wally we can only re home him with older teenagers who understand the importance of his diet and the restrictions surrounding that.

Wally is currently being fed ground puppy dry food mixed with water, this ensures both food and hydration needs are met, he is able to access water via a rabbit bottle that is elevated should he require additional fluids.

We will be happy to discuss Wally and his needs at length with any suitable applicants. Please don't be offended if we do not choose you, we have to ensure that Wally's new family will be able to look after him and cope with his needs for many years to come.

Wally has been neutered. Vaccinated and micro chipped and is up to date with flea and worming treatment. He is currently on foster in Cheshire. Wally
4 Month Old Male
Dachshund

This gorgeous little lad came into rescue as he has inoperable Megaesophigus. Please fully read the link prior to applying for Wally - http://dogsaholic.com/care/megaesophagus-in-dogs.html. Having a dog with this condition can be time consuming
And a special diet is needed. The dogs are unable to be allowed to eat or drink unsupervised and will need to remain upright for 20-30 minutes post feed to ensure the food has travelled to the stomach. There are several different methods for feeding dogs with Megaeosophegus and each dog will find his or her own best position. We will be able to advise how Wally feeds and will of course show and discuss his needs at length with potential adopters.
